Buying a car 'all about forward planning'

Wednesday, 28/01/2009

Purchasing a new car is all about planning in advance and using common sense, it was suggested this week.Motoring broadcaster Quentin Willson, speaking on behalf of Kitemark, discussed some of the things buyers should look for when considering a new vehicle. He said thinking ahead and checking whether the dealer or manufacturer is part of a motoring federation, if they have a reputation and practice good standards are all important parts of ensuring the consumer achieves a good deal."It's about knowing if the product has been tested and if the operator cares about their reputation, standards, doing the right job and all that old fashioned stuff," Willson explained. His comments follow a recent survey by Consumer Direct, which found the top customer complaint in 2008 was about second-hand cars purchased from independent dealers. Some 47,019 calls and emails were received by the group on this topic.Of course, those thinking about buying a car this year may want to shop around for the best car insurance quote.
