Children join forces with police to beat speeders

Wednesday, 28/05/2008

Police in Falmouth have recruited local schoolchildren in a bid to beat speeders in the area, it has been reported.

According to the Falmouth Packet, the pupils were taught how to use speed guns in order to catch out those exceeding the speed limit.

No drivers were found over the level, with those passing the children at a safe speed being thanked by the youngsters.

A car insurance policy may be at risk if a motorist breaks the limit, as cover firms may see them as a dangerous road user and increase costs.

"It was really good fun we learnt all about the speed gun and got to have a go ourselves," said 11 year old Billy.

This comes as This is Lancashire has reported that drivers paid a collective £1.7 million over the course of 2005 and 2006 for speed awareness courses.
