Classic auctions 'could add a bit of Bond glamour to your life'

Monday, 27/10/2008

With the new James Bond film due out this weekend, BCA is suggesting classic car insurance customers can emulate the secret agent by purchasing a vehicle from one of its auctions. The company reported a recent sale saw a 1968 Aston Martin DBS fetch three times its original estimate - at £18,150.It claimed the silver car with black leather interior - which had been in storage for a number of years and had covered less than 70,000 miles from new - generated interest from buyers from Europe and Japan.Robin Lawton from BCA said: "It seems everyone wants a bit of James Bond glamour as the bidding for the 1968 DBS proved."He added the company's auctions can look like "a who's who of Bond cars", with everything from the Lotus Esprit to Astons going under the hammer.BCA has reported strong sales over recent months, claiming classic vehicles appear to have defied the credit crunch.
