Switching to a convertible vehicle need not be an expensive exercise, according to a consumer price comparison website.
Research from Confused.com has found that the average car without a roof costs an average of £32 more in insurance than a non-convertible over a year.
It may be that such car insurance policies make customers consider taking out a flashy sports car as a result.
But Debra Williams, managing director of Confused.com, stated that it is always a good idea to shop around for the best deals.
She said: "There is no reason why they cannot enjoy the benefits of cheaper car insurance when buying a convertible, even if drivers can't make the most of putting the top down every day in the UK."
This comes as new figures from the AA show that the rate of increase in car insurance premiums in the UK is slowing down.
