Motorists breaking the law on roads in Devon and Cornwall were caught out by police in the region as part of a clampdown, it has been reported.
The Plymouth Evening Herald has stated that some 831 people were found flouting highway rules during the month-long Operation Vortex initiative.
It may be that those who picked up a conviction have difficulty getting cheap car insurance in the future, as cover firms could view them to be a risk on the roads.
Inspector Richard Pryce commented that the subsequent reduction of highways casualties has "delighted" him.
He said: "I want to make the message clear, we are actively seeking out those who adopt a complacent and arrogant attitude to road safety and they will be dealt with robustly."
This comes as the BBC reports that the South West Equine Society fears there will be more horse deaths than ever in road collisions along the B3212 between Yelverton and Princetown.
