Be Wiser News:

Crash site speeders cautioned by police

Thursday, 27/03/2008

Police in Buckinghamshire have cracked down on drivers found above the speed limit at the site of a fatal accident, a news source in the area has reported.

According to Bucks Free Press, more than 30 people were punished by officials for travelling too fast at Brimmers Hill in Widmer End yesterday as part of the initiative.

Those looking to keep their car insurance premiums low could find that cover companies increase costs if a driver picks up a speeding conviction.

Police Constable Ian Leyland commented that the crackdown was initiated following the death of 76-year-old Roy James as well as pressure from local people.

He said: "We look forward to organising more of these checks in the future working with our partner agencies to reduce speed and casualties."

Figures from the Department for Transport show that there were some 3,150 road deaths in the UK in 2006.
