Motor insurance customers who are feeling the pinch at the moment can save by upgrading their current vehicle instead of trading it in, according to Kwik Fit.Research by the company found some 6.4 million motorists intend to improve their existing cars over the next year, to make them look and feel like new.The firm also revealed the top five tricks used by vehicle owners to upgrade their current set of wheels. First of all, Kwik Fit said simply getting a car serviced regularly will improve how it runs.It added fitting alloy wheels will instantly give a vehicle a new look, while installing a high performance exhaust will increase an engine's efficiency and boost power levels.Meanwhile, other drivers concentrate on the interior of their cars by recharging their air conditioning unit or fitting a satnav.Earlier this month, Kwik Fit warned motorists could be facing a car insurance claim if they did not undertake basic car maintenance.
