Motorists in Hampshire will have to find another way to travel through Eastleigh for six months, after a plan to close the M27 through the area was announced by local officials.
According to the Daily Echo, a six-month road maintenance project is to see the stretch inaccessible to drivers for until December.
It may be that finding a different route through the region sees motorists risk their car insurance policies by travelling on unfamiliar highways.
Local councillor Chris Thomas thinks the move is "absolute motoring chaos" and could affect local commerce.
He said: "It's barmy if they think they're going to complete it in December and not disrupt Christmas trade."
This comes as Hampshire News reported earlier this month that police officials were warning against the dangers of standing waters on roads.
According to the news source, motorists should remain vigilant at all times.
