Drivers 'lagging' when it comes to car switching insurance

Monday, 26/11/2007

Motorists in the UK do not give switching their car insurance policies the same precedence as other utilities, it has been claimed.

A new survey from TescoCompare.com found that 43 per cent of drivers have stayed with their provider over a period of three years or more, while seven per cent are yet to switch at all.

It may be that some motorists are sticking with deals because they have built up a high no-claims bonus.

Peter Dingle, managing director of the firm, stated that people seem to be more concerned by what their deals covered than the cost.

He said: "It seems that these people are the ones valuing policy features and the level of cover provided above the cheapest policy available."

Earlier this month, Gocompare.com managing director Hayley Parsons called the Department for Transport's decision to go ahead with electronic insurance documents a move which will "hugely enhance" the industry.
