Motorists travelling on roads in the Midlands are less likely to stop and help a driver who has broken down than any other, according to a new survey.A survey conducted by Age Concern has found that 86 per cent of people would not offer assistance to a motorist in need, the Halesowen News has reported. It could be that drivers fear that the broken down motorists are not genuine, or that they do not want to risk their car insurance policies by towing them.Paul Surman from Age Concern in Dudley remarked that a large number of people over 55 years of age were not helped in such a situation."Good breakdown cover means you don't have to worry about flagging down help should the worst happen, as a prompt roadside rescue is just a phone call away," said the official.Age Concern was originally set up in the aftermath of the second world war.
