Be Wiser News:

Drivers 'need to be more careful'

Tuesday, 26/02/2008

Police officers in Cambridgeshire are urging people to take more care on roads in the region, it has been reported.

According to Cambridge News, there have been 12 roads fatalities on highways in the area over the course of 2008.

The news source added that road safety charity Brake would like to see greater safety measures installed in order to stop the trend.

It may also be that a reduced number of accidents sees car insurance policies fall, as cover companies could view dwindling figures indicative of safer roads.

Lorna Jackson, speaking on behalf of the group, stated that the number of deaths this year is "unacceptable".

She said: "It is extremely worrying that the number of people being killed or seriously injured each year on Cambridgeshire roads appears to be rising, and more must be done to stop this unnecessary death toll."

Meanwhile, the Cambridge Evening News reports that a crash on the A14 in Cambridge left motorists in the area delayed.
