Drivers told: Avoid M40

Friday, 28/03/2008

A serious crash on the M40 has prompted traffic officials to warn drivers not to travel along the road, it has been reported.

Bucks Free Press has stated that motorists have been told not to use the highways southbound between junction 15 and 11, while northbound between 11 and 12 are also shut.

This comes after a crash involving two cars and three lorries which left one person with serious injuries, according to the news source.

It added that one man has been arrested under suspicion of dangerous driving, which could see him compromise his car insurance policy in the future.

The Highways Agency has announced that it is expecting to reopen the road under normal conditions later today.

Meanwhile, statistics from the Department for Transport show that there were 3,150 people killed on roads in the UK over the course of 2006, compared to 3,201 in 2005.
