Be Wiser News:

The Most Expensive Pint Of Beer

Thursday, 07/03/2013
As every sensible road user in the UK knows it is a really, really stupid idea to drink and drive. However, as we all know there are many drivers out there who think it is OK to have one or two and then get behind the wheel; and quite possibly the vast majority of these drivers will get home safely without incident.

If you are one of those drivers who think “I’ll just have one more, it will be OK” then read on. As part of a new Spring Road Safety Initiative the government has released figures recently about the actual, real-terms cost of a drink-driving conviction.

With all the legal fees, fines and increased insurance premiums as well as possible job loss the total comes to between £20,000 and £50,000. This figure will be highlighted with a “£50,000 pint of beer” sign as part of the THINK! campaign.

To anyone drinking and driving it is to be made absolutely clear that if they are caught driving over the limit then the penalties will be severe and will lead to heavy fines, loss of licence and possibly even a term in prison.

Still think that last drink is worth it now?
