People who want to avoid making a claim on their car insurance need to be particularly vigilant as the nights draw in, according to Tracker.The company - which provides stolen vehicle recovery systems - has warned darker evenings are a godsend for opportunistic thieves.However, it advised there are a number of things drivers can do to minimise their risks of being targeted.Managing director Bill Raynal said motorists should check all points of entry into their vehicle are closed and locked before leaving.He also suggested parking under a street light or near CCTV cameras.Drivers were also urged to remove all valuables when leaving their car unattended, including the satnav and radio."It only takes a few minutes to take these extra steps, but could save considerable heartache, not to mention expense if their car is stolen," Mr Raynal concluded.Earlier this month, Tracker voiced its delight at the recovery of a £30,000 Caterpillar Mini-digger which was stolen from Humberside and found in the County Durham village of Crook.
