People new to the road will soon be able to have their driving performance monitored by a new dashboard black box, it has been reported.
According to Auto Express, Staffordshire county council is to test the device, which measures G-force through motorists' interaction with the vehicle.
If the system is found to be effective, it may be that it helps drivers avoid accidents and save on their car insurance policies by not having to claim.
The information collected by the black box is uploaded to the internet, where motorists can log on and check their own performance later on.
"Most new drivers think they are good. This graphically illustrates where they go wrong," commented Staffordshire road safety manager Adrian Hide.
This comes as Bolton News reports that the Bolton Institute of Advanced Motorists is to visit sixth-form colleges in the region in order to warn students of the dangers of the road.
