The number of car insurance claims made in the UK may be reduced if new government plans are put into place, it has been suggested.According to the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), proposals which would see the widespread adoption of Intelligent Speed Adaption (ISA) could cut road deaths and injuries by as much as 29 per cent. The system uses global satellite positioning to pinpoint a car's location and the speed limit in that particular area.ISA is then capable of controlling how fast that vehicle travels either automatically or at the driver's discretion.Neil Greig, director of research and policy at IAM, said the technology could prove beneficial if certain safeguards were built in first. However, he added for it to be accepted by the general public "an understandable deep-rooted concern about Big Brother will have to be overcome".In other news, IAM recently urged motorists to be particularly cautious when taking to the road in poor weather conditions.
