Peterborough drivers 'travelling without cover'

Friday, 11/07/2008

A number of motorists in Peterborough are travelling without a valid car insurance policy, according to new statistics.

Peterborough Today has revealed that five per cent of the area's 123,134 drivers are on the road without a proper cover deal, figures from the Motor Insurers' Bureau show.

The news source added that there were some 1,125 crashes on highways in the region last year involving people who did not have proper cover.

"A number of drivers" still think that it is acceptable to take to the road in vehicles without car insurance, according to a police spokesperson.

"We will continue our robust enforcement of the law, seizing any vehicles we find being driven illegally," the representative remarked.

This comes as the Blackpool Gazette has reported on an RAF survey, that found that more than half of British drivers think roads will be gridlocked in 20 years.
