Peugeot 'is the leading green carmaker'

Car insurance customers in the UK looking to purchase environmentally-friendly vehicles are more likely to opt for Peugeot models than those from any other manufacturer, it has been claimed.

The group stated its Blue Lion range of green-focused models is the most popular low-emitting auto line-up on the market

Figures from the company show the 107 clinched first place in the sales chart for vehicles producing less than 111 g/km of carbon dioxide last year, while in the sub-121 g/km category, the firm had three cars in the top ten.

The manufacturer put its success down to its determination to reduce the environmental impact of its models.

Marketing director Christian Stein commented: "We are delighted to be comprehensively leading the green race, with the benefit of lower running costs for our customers."

In other news, Peugeot recently announced its 308 CC will arrive in UK showrooms in June and buyers will be able to choose from three trim levels.
