Officers in East Lothian are looking to track down a group of youths who have been making life difficult for drivers in the region, it has been reported.
According to the East Lothian Courier, Tranent community leaders have called the behaviour of the young people, who were found throwing rocks at drivers, "dangerous and irresponsible".
It may be that their actions force motorists to make car insurance claims in if they are hit, which could result in more expensive cover policy deals in the future.
A spokesman for the police commented that the there has been a "history" of incidents such as this in the region.
"Such behaviour is appalling and these kids must realise that these actions could very easily lead to serious road traffic accidents and even death," said Raymond Strang, Tranent community council chairman.
Department for Transport figures show that 3,150 people were killed on roads in the UK during 2006.
