Be Wiser News:

Terrorism No Deterrent To Brits On Holiday

Wednesday, 15/08/2012

There is no doubt that Brits look forward to their two weeks away; whether it is just lounging on the beach and catching up on reading or an action packed adventure holiday. And with ease of travel nowadays more and more exotic locations are the destination of choice even if this comes with a risk of terrorism or natural disaster.

It seems that around a third of adults in the UK would not think twice about these sorts of threats and would trust in luck and travel insurance to get them out of any difficulty and would not let anything they hear in the news worry them. Their attitude is “stuff happens”.

Over the last ten years or so there has been a significant increase in the number of overseas trips taken by British people, while the threat of terrorism has also been on the rise.

In a twisted logic, many people feel that they will get a quieter resort if they travel to somewhere that has been attacked or has had a recent natural disaster as most folk will avoid the area. Holiday makers should make sure they have up to date and comprehensive travel insurance and also check with the Foreign Office for specific information about the area they are travelling in.
