Text service 'helps car buyers identify a bargain'

Motorists - who are hoping to cut their car insurance premiums and other motoring costs by buying a used vehicle - may be interested to hear a new text service has been launched to try and help prevent people being ripped off.Drivers can send a message to Exchange and Mart providing the registration plate number and mileage of a used model they are looking at.The company then replies with three valuations for that model in good, average and poor condition.Debra Healy from Exchange and Mart said there are plenty of bargains to be had in the current economic climate.However, she warned: "Anything that seems too good to be true probably is and the chances are you could be stung by buying a car that is at best dodgy and worst dangerous." Earlier in the month, Exchange and Mart recommended dealers worked to rebuild consumer confidence by exceeding expectations.
