Volvo drivers who are keen to avoid making a claim on their car insurance may want to take advantage of the manufacturer's offer of a free safety inspection.The checks usually take about 40 minutes and ensure a vehicle reaches the mandatory safety levels that have to be met when a car is first built.Free inspections are available to all Volvo drivers with a model built after 1991 until December 31st 2008.The checks can be carried out at any one of the manufacturer's 200 facilities across the UK which has the Volvo Information and Diagnostics for Aftersales (Vida) system.Vida provides a direct connection to the company's headquarters in Sweden and allows the latest software upgrades to be downloaded directly to any of their vehicles.According to the carmaker, the free test would usually cost £56.In other Volvo news, the manufacturer has announced it will be unveiling its new eco-friendly diesel variants of the C30 sports coupe, S40 saloon and V50 Sportswagen at this year's Paris Motor Show.
