According to the automaker, it has slashed the price of its Lancer models by between £1,500 and £2,000, with it now costing £8,499.

It added that the Mitsubishi Colt, available in both three and five-door variations, can now be bought at the reduced price of £1,000.

The firm is also offering low rate car finance deals, with 9.6 per cent APR on offer as well as monthly payments of around £135, car insurance customers may be interested to know.

Such prices are to be promoted by the firm as part of a "comprehensive" advertising campaign.

The commercials have been designed to "ensure the message of a brighter future with Mitsubishi is shouted from the rooftops ... Anyone wanting to create their own little ray of sunshine can do so with a great deal on a brand new Mitsubishi."

Mitsubishi recently announced that the Evo X model is due to be introduced to the Malaysian market.

'Millions wasted on new car finance'

http://www.bewiser.co.uk/news/news.asp?ref=4842

Drivers travelling on British roads will waste millions of pounds on cars finance deals this autumn, it has been claimed.

According to research from price comparison website uSwitch.com, around £168 million is to be spent on arrangements for vehicles with new 58 number plates.

The domain stated that taking out a personal loan with a low interest rate could be cheaper for drivers, saving them approximately £826 in payments over three years.

Head of personal finance at uSwitch.com Simeon Linstead commented that shopping around for a good deal can help motorists.

Indeed, those looking to save on road tax and car insurance could benefit.

"Trusting consumers may think that purchasing a vehicle from a reputable dealer also means they will be offered the most competitive finance deal - but this is certainly not the case," he said.

Motorists in Britain are paying more for fuel than European drivers, according to previous uSwitch.com research.

Drivers given seatbelt reminder

http://www.bewiser.co.uk/news/news.asp?ref=4841

Motorists in the Cotswolds are being reminded to wear their seat belts behind the wheel by police in the region.

The Cotswold Journal has stated that the officers raised the point recently at a regional meeting.

It may be that those that take the message on board find that they save on their car insurance policies, as cover firms could view those who do not as negligent drivers.

A lack of safety precautions from motorists is behind a number of collisions in the region, commented Police Constable Gary Brewer.

Ecorazzi has stated that the Hannah Montana actress has been told by her father that she has to get a green car when she starts to drive.

It could be that this entitles the star to a cheaper car insurance policy, as cover companies could reward her for her eco-conscious stance.

She added that dad Billy-Ray Cyrus has told her not to buy a Mercedes G-Wagon.

The Plymouth Evening Herald has stated that a recent crackdown against drivers using a mobile phone behind the wheel, not wearing seat belts and speeding caught out over 700 people.

It could be that these motorists now find it difficult to pick up a cheap car insurance policy, as cover firms could judge them to be a road risk and increase costs.

Inspector Richard Price from Devon and Cornwall Constabulary commented that the scheme is part of the nationwide Operation Vortex programme.

"Using unmarked patrol vehicles, the team has been able to witness motorists who deliberately take completely unnecessary risks, displaying little regard for road safety," he revealed.

This comes as statistics from the Department for Transport show that there were some 2,943 road deaths in the UK in 2007.
