Bank urges homeowners to 'perform winter health check'

Wednesday, 31/10/2007

With the coldest months of the year approaching it may be an idea for homeowners to check the condition of their houses, it has been suggested.

According to Halifax, people who own property should look to get their houses ready for winter in order to ensure that it avoids damage.

Indeed, it may be that cracked roof tiles or dodgy drains leads to homeowners claiming on their home insurance policies, or paying up large amounts of money to avoid compromising their no claims bonuses.

Speaking on behalf of the firm, Vicky Emmott has commented that home emergency checks "need to be carried out".

"With home emergencies, prevention is certainly better than the cure, and many claims could be avoided if householders spent a small amount of time preparing for the coming bad weather," she said.

The winter may have begun in the eyes of many last Saturday when the clocks went back by one hour.
