Be Wiser News:

Do I need special motorbike insurance abroad?

Tuesday, 16/06/2009

Motorbike owners taking a trip overseas may not need to take out a special separate policy to cover them for any eventualities.

Providing motorbike holidaymakers give their current insurance provider advance notice, they may be able to simply extend their existing policy to get additional protection for a supplementary fee.

Some lucky consumers may even have an insurance provider that offers the service for free - leaving them with more money to spend on their break.

Riders who do not have breakdown cover could also consider buying this for their trip, otherwise breaking down in a foreign land without it could put a dampener on their vacation and be a drain on the wallet.

Many cash-conscious people could elect to shop around for the additional cover to see if it is cheaper to stick with their current provider - or go with someone else.

The type of insurance motorbike riders go for may, ultimately, depend on the size and cost of their bike, the length of their journey and where they will be visiting.
