Scrappage Scheme Gives Britain Safer Roads and Cheaper Car Insurance

Tuesday, 17/11/2009

The Governments scrappage scheme may end up not only making British roads safer but could make car insurance cheaper, according to insurance experts Be Wiser Insurance.

Mark Bower-Dyke, Chairman of Be Wiser Insurance, comments:

“Modern cars are held to much higher safety standards than those eligible for the scrappage scheme.  A road network populated by safer and more modern vehicles is likely to lead to lower car insurance premiums.”

Safer cars can offer lower insurance premiums because, overall, they reduce the cost of injuries to people in car accidents.

Mark Bower-Dyke continues:

“Added safety features means, if an accident happens, the likelihood of sustaining personal injury will be much reduced. As the large part of an insurance premium is to cover the cost of personal injury, newer, safer cars are cheaper to insure.”

However, not all insurance companies take this into consideration when calculating the costs of cover.

Mark Bower-Dyke concludes:

“It is always better to check as much as the market as possible to secure the best rate.  Be Wiser takes the hassle out of insurance by searching over 30 of the best car insurance companies.  We enable people buying safer cars on the scrappage scheme to fully benefit from the lower insurance premiums those cars should offer.”
