Electric Porter 'could help van drivers cut costs'

Van insurance customers who are looking at cutting costs may want to check out the Piaggio Porter electric MPV at the UK national Low Carbon Vehicle Event this week, the company has suggested.According to the manufacturer, the vehicles have minimal running costs are particularly suitable for businesses operating small fleets in busy urban areas.It stated as they are exempt from congestion charging and Vehicle Excise Duty, a Porter electric vehicle could help companies enjoy significant savings.The company explained the van uses maintenance-free long-life lead-gel batteries which produce zero emissions.Vehicles have a range of about 80 miles and are designed with manoeuvrability in mind.Piaggio claimed the vans can get into the most restricted spaces.The range is also available in petrol in two-wheel and four-wheel drive.Prices start from £6,495.In November last year, the Porter was named What Van? Best Microvan for the fourth successive year.
