Trucks in Scotland will not be allowed to cross a bridge in Paisley because they weigh too much, it has been reported.
The Paisley Daily Express states that the Penilee Road structure has been made out of bounds to drivers in heavy goods vehicles.
A Renfrewshire council spokesman commented that the increased height and weight of trucks have become too much.
This means that motorists in larger automobiles who decide to cross the bridge may have an accident which could compromise their car or van insurance.
It may also be that their behaviour is deemed to be too risky for cover companies to issue them a cheap deal in the future.
"The assessment found the bridge could not carry current heavy goods vehicle loadings safely," said the source.
Meanwhile, the BBC reports that transport minister Stewart Stevenson has placed an advert in Clackmannanshire, Fife and Falkirk newspapers giving readers the chance to name the new Forth Crossing bridge at Kincardine.
