Be Wiser Insurance

In many UK drivers’ minds there is little doubt that the recent storms and huge downpours are unprecedented. And some would go further and say that Climate Change is to blame and we should be doing everything in our power to slow or stop Global Warming.

With this is mind it is interesting to note that a recent report issued by the Government has revealed that less than expected numbers of the grants to help consumers buy electric cars have been taken up. A fund of around £400million was ring fenced three years ago for motorists to buy low emission cars with a grant of up to £5,000.

However, it seems that in this time less than £33.5 million has actually been claimed. The government set aside the money with the predicted expectation of more than 8,500 claims but in fact since the scheme was brought in only just over 6,700 grants have actually been issued.

Does this mean that UK drivers are wary of buying electric cars, do they not care about green issues or are they simply not aware of the grant? We will never know for sure but it does mean that if you are looking for a green car there is still plenty of money available to help you make that purchase.
