Parking tickets issued by Westminster City Council, Camden and Lambeth may be illegal, according to a motoring body.

AppealNow.com believes that a number of drivers are caught up in this situation, with "millions of pounds" involved.

Barrie Segal, founder of the group, commented that they do not comply with the law as the slips fail to display the issue date.

He added that he has "challenged" the relevant councils over the problem.

This may prove to be helpful for those motorists who are struggling to find the funds to pay road tax and car insurance costs after receiving such a fine.

"I believe that the illegality that I have found is the tip of the iceberg," he commented.

Meanwhile, government statistics show that the number of people caught by speed cameras has fallen for the first time.

Driving without a licence or MOT and parking offences all went down slightly.
