New research has found the speed hump held in the least regard by motorists in the UK.

According to Continental Tyres, the bump on Tower View Road in Great Wryley is most disliked, largely because its flood spot location means it is largely submerged.

Hitting a speed bump without anticipation may cause enough damage for motorists to have to claim on their car insurance policies.

Roger Sanders, technical expert for the firm, stated that despite 16 years of them, drivers still get the hump over the feature.

He added that a "lack of consistency in design" was a likely cause for this.

"Shapes, heights and materials vary wildly from hump to hump, which means that drivers are unsure on how best to approach them and therefore risk unexpected impact," said Mr Sanders.

Drivers in Preston may want to re-plan their journeys next week after the Lancashire Evening Post has reported that road works will result in delays in the region from Monday.
