UK Drivers Should Beware When Driving In ItalyWed, 25/02/2015
British motorists heading to Europe with their cars need to be extra vigilant obeying the law of the road. Italy has come out on top as the most risky place in Europe for UK drivers..
The story was covered in a news article on Yahoo News:
“Since 2011, 715 British drivers have had to make an insurance claim for a hire car in Italy, putting it ahead of Spain in second place with 629 claims and France in third with 540 claims.
The most common claims for UK drivers with foreign hire cars are for accidental damage, followed by vandalism, theft and mis-fuelling.
More unusual claims have been made for damage to hire cars caused by hailstones, volcanic ash and collisions with wild animals. Whatever the cause of the damage, the average claim for a UK driver was £350 in 2014. Italy was also responsible for the most expensive claim by a British driver.”
If you are planning a driving holiday to Europe this year don’t forget to familiarise yourself with the locals laws and customs before you head off, so you don’t get caught out!
