The four Group PSA manufacturers, Citroen, Peugeot, Vauxhall and DS, are offering a £99 deep cleaning service to car owners to ensure their vehicle is fully disinfected, as well as a 29-point health check to help identify problems with the roadworthiness of a car.
Citroen, Peugeot, Vauxhall and DS are now offering a cleaning service designed to disinfect your car and help stop the spread of COVID-19.
The Complete Anti-Bacterial Refresh includes a deep clean of the air conditioning system and replacement of filters so that you can "drive pollen free, dust free and now, worry free."
A vehicle health check is also completed before the interior and exterior of the car are fully disinfected.
The £99 service is available to Citroen, DS, Peugeot and Vauxhall owners and can be booked online through a local retailer.
Motorists concerned that their cars may harbour harmful intruders or who have left their vehicle to gather dust during lockdown could find the anti-viral valet useful as travel restrictions begin to loosen.
A contactless vehicle drop-off option is available for those who do not want to use the car collection and delivery service.
All technicians working under Groupe PSA, the parent company behind the manufacturers, will carry out the service while following social distancing guidelines.
They will also carry out a 29-point health check to help identify problems with the roadworthiness of a car – a particularly useful service as MOT exemptions continue to take effect.
Leading bodies from the motor industry have called on the government to end certificate extensions amid safety fears.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders boss Mike Hawes said: “Given many of these vehicles have been idle for weeks, a reconsideration of the six-month MOT extension needs to be made as soon as possible.”
Despite relaxed government advice, the roads are set to be unusually quiet this bank holiday weekend.
Fewer than 10 million leisure journeys are expected over the next few days, half the number compared to last year and the lowest amount since the RAC first started tracking trips in 2014.
Those planning on driving should run through some essential checks before setting off, especially if cars have been left unused for an extended period of time.
Remember to check oil and coolant levels, as well as tyre tread and pressure before starting your journey.
