Godolphin Introduce Smart Debutant at Newcastle
William Haggas began the New Year by winning Wolverhampton’s Fast Track Qualifier for the £150,000 Fillies’ and Mares’ Final on Good Friday while veteran trainer David Elsworth can look forward to the 3YO Final after taking similar honours at Kempton Park.
 
HAGGAS FILLY SEALS GOOD FRIDAY DATE
 
ISLAND OF LIFE, trained in Newmarket by William Haggas, secured her place in the Fillies’ and Mares’ Final at Lingfield Park on Good Friday when she won the Fast Track Qualifier at Wolverhampton on 2nd January. She stepped up to seven furlongs to complete a hat-trick on the All-Weather and hold off Listed winner Castle Hill Cassie in the hands of Richard Kingscote.
 
VETERAN TRAINER ELSWORTH STRIKES AT KEMPTON
 
Veteran trainer David Elsworth sprung a surprise in Kempton Park’s Fast Track Qualifier for the 3YO Final when 12-1 chance NO NONSENSE landed the six-furlong conditions stakes for jockey Liam Keniry on Friday. The son of Acclamation stayed on strongly to edge out the better fancied previous winner James Street and book his place in the Easter showpiece.
 
GODOLPHIN INTRODUCE SMART DEBUTANT AT NEWCASTLE
 
Godolphin’s introduced another potential star at Newcastle on Sunday when ONE VISION won the mile and a quarter novice stakes for Charlie Appleby. The son of Shamardal was given a fine education by Jack Mitchell, who switched him inside to mount a race-winning challenge and just get the better of leader Top Power in a driving finish.
