Newmarket trainer William Haggas won Lingfield Park’s Listed weekend feature with the explosive Headway, while the final Fast Track Qualifiers for Good Friday’s £1 million race day take place this weekend at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford City.
HEADWAY FLIES HOME IN SPRING CUP
William Haggas’s exciting three-year-old HEADWAY produced the performance of the week too win the Listed Spring Cup at Lingfield Park last Saturday. He was last turning for home but recorded a lightning-fast time up the straight to set himself up for a possible tilt at the German 2,000 Guineas.
WALK STROLLS HOME FOR NOSEDA
WALK IN THE SUN, a £1.4 million purchase by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, made it two out of two for trainer Jeremy Noseda when he scored at Lingfield Park last week, despite not handling the home bend too well. This inexperienced colt, who was ridden by top jockey Ryan Moore, holds an Irish 2,000 Guineas entry but could be campaigned Stateside.
FINAL FAST TRACK QUALIFIERS THIS WEEKEND
Wolverhampton stages a Fast Track Qualifier for the Mile Final on Saturday when Hyde Stakes winner SECOND THOUGHT will almost certainly line up in the Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes for William Haggas. The last of 24 qualifiers for Good Friday’s £1 million Finals Day goes ahead at Chelmsford in the evening - a two-mile race for the Marathon division.
