Josephine Gordon Completes Century of Winners at WolverhamptonTue, 28/11/2017
Josephine Gordon became only the second female jockey to ride 100 winners in a calendar year last weekend, when another galloping girl Hollie Doyle also made the headlines on the All-Weather.
GORDON MAKES HISTORY AT WOLVERHAMPTON
Last year’s Champion Apprentice JOSEPHINE GORDON on Saturday became only the second female jockey to ride a century of winners in a calendar year when Thunderbolt Rocks got up to win at Wolverhampton. She emulated the achievement of Hayley Turner, who reached her milestone in 2008. Gordon also joined an exclusive club by becoming the first rider to reach 100 in her first year as a fully fledged professional since Frankie Dettori and Ryan Moore.
DOYLE ALSO REACHES NOTABLE LANDMARK
Apprentice jockey HOLLIE DOYLE has suffered two long-term injuries in the last couple of years but has enjoyed a successful 2017 and rode out her claim to join the full professional ranks at the weekend. Based with top trainer Richard Hannon, Doyle claimed a seven-furlong handicap for long-standing supporter William Stone on Hidden Stash to close in on her own 100th career winner.
HAGGAS BACK ON THE FAST TRACK
William Haggas landed last week’s Fast Track Qualifier at Kempton Park with SECOND THOUGHT, who clinched his place in Good Friday’s £150,000 Mile Final. The All-Weather specialist, who won last season’s 3YO Final, took the step up in distance in his stride to take the Listed prize for top jockey James Doyle and will be a force to be reckoned with come March.
