Luke Morris discusses his improving Championship prospects with my fellow At The Races presenter Hayley Turner at Southwell last week.

AMAZEMENT enhanced his growing reputation with an emphatic victory in Wolverhampton’s feature handicap on Saturday night. James Tate’s gelding defied a 5lb rise in the rankings for a previous course success to win the extended 9.5-furlong prize and may now switch to turf for a crack at the famous Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster on 1st April.

MORRIS PLAYING DOWN TITLE CHANCE

Champion All-Weather jockey LUKE MORRIS continues to play down his chances of pegging back Adam Kirby’s 10-winner lead but remains in great form. He’s won eight races in the last two weeks, including on Amazement at Wolverhampton, but insists his arch rival Kirby remains the hot favourite for the £10,000 prize with just four weeks of the season remaining.

ANOTHER ‘BIG’ WIN FOR PETITE JACK

My Target’s record of five straight wins at Lingfield Park was equalled last week by Neil King’s PETITE JACK, who came from last to win the mile and a half handicap. He may now be aimed at an £85,000 handicap at Newcastle on Good Friday, says in-form King, whose Lil Rockerfeller finished second in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham the day before.
