Wissahickon gallops to victory in the Listed Quebec Stakes at Lingfield Park to put himself in the frame for the Group 3 Winter Derby.
One of last season’s sprinting stars came back with a bang on Boxing Day while champion trainer John Gosden unleashed a leading contender for the Winter Derby and a bargain buy from Ireland could be heading for Marathon glory ...
KACHY, one of the sprint stars of season five, came back to action in explosive fashion at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day when he shattered the six-furlong track record. Tom Dascombe’s speedball will now head back to Lingfield Park in February in a bid to win the Listed Cleves Stakes for the second time before aiming to go one better in the £150,000 Sprint Final on Good Friday.
John Gosden, the champion trainer in Britain this year, has another star in the making in the shape of WISSAHICKON, who added the Listed Quebec Stakes at Lingfield Park to his win in the Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket in October. The dirt bred colt proved much too classy for his rivals on 22nd December and is likely to emerge as the favourite for the Group 3 Winter Derby in March.
Newmarket trainer John Ryan is rightfully getting excited about his bargain buy AIRCRAFT CARRIER, who made it two wins in a row over a mile and three-quarters when he dominated a Chelmsford handicap just before Christmas. Bought out of Aidan O’Brien’s powerful stable, he looks ready to step up to two miles for a possible crack at a Fast Track Qualifier for the valuable Marathon Final at Lingfield Park on Good Friday.
