A recent report by the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) and the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) has blamed poor planning for the escalating problem of parking wars in some areas of the country.
More than a fifth of all parking tickets – a total of over 1.4 million – were cancelled last year, the Commons Transport Select Committee has found. The committee described itself as "astounded" by the numbers torn up after they were challenged by irate drivers.
