Formerly known as AP Kawasaki, the team will run as Be Wiser Kawasaki during the 2013 race season, reflecting the fact that Be Wiser Insurance have increased their sponsorship to be title sponsor of the team. Alan Greig, team owner has recently completed signing a strong three man team to compete in the British Championship this year in both the National Superstock 1000cc and 600cc Classes. Both classes are a major feature races supporting the British Superbike Championship throughout the 2013 season.
Alan has signed two riders to run in the National Superstock 1000cc series, Josh Wainwright and Josh Day - both using Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R machines. Wainwright has a long standing partnership with the team having ridden for the team last year in the Superstock 600cc class. He finished sixth overall in 2012 in the 600cc Championship and his Championship winning hopes were dashed when he had to miss four rounds due to an injury suffered at Oulton Park.
Josh Wainwright - "I'm really pleased to be riding for the team again and it's great to see Be Wiser stepping up their sponsorship of the team. Hopefully I can get some good results for the team this year. It's time now for me to make the move up from the 600cc class into the stock 1000cc class and I hope to be ridding it quickly and competitively."
The second rider joining the Stock 1000cc class is 24-year-old Josh Day, the former National Superstock 600cc Champion is eager to complete a full season having only ridden in selected races during 2011 and 2012 in Evo Superbike, Supersport and Stock 1000's achieving some strong results in the process.
Josh Day - "Be Wiser Kawasaki were the only team I would have joined this season, I know the guys well and believe in them as they believe in me. It's nice to know that they do everything possible to make things right for the rider and that's why I trust them to work with me.
I feel we have a great chance of success this season because we have a great bike and plenty of testing time before the season starts so I want to be consistently in the top ten and hopefully towards the end of the season we can be near the top end of the Championship table.
I've now got every opportunity to be up there where I used to be, I am only 24 and I still have an ambition to succeed. This season is going to be fun!
I would like to say a huge thank-you to Alan Greig, Paul Russo and the entire Be Wiser Kawasaki Racing Team for this exciting opportunity."
Be Wiser Kawasaki are pleased to have signed up 20-year-old Nick Anderson for the National Superstock 600cc class on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. The 2011 Thundersport 600cc Champion made the move into the National Superstock 600 series in 2012 and had a steep learning curve in a very competitive class. With a year in the series under his belt he has been taken on by the Be Wiser Kawasaki team and will be hoping to be one to watch out for in the class.
Nick Anderson - "I'm really looking forward to getting back to racing again, the Be Wiser Kawasaki team have given me a great opportunity this year. I can't wait to work with such a professional team and just want to get testing now and back to racing. It seems to have been a long winter but I have been working hard on my fitness and want to get the team some good results this season."
Team Owner/Manager Alan Grieg - "We knew from the final round at Brands last year that the 2013 season was going to be a real test for the team. With the economic climate effecting both team and rider sponsorship we all had to work extra hard to raise the funding required to compete at this level. I am happy to announce that we have succeeded in securing the required sponsorship to run competitively and welcome on-board both our new and existing sponsors and I think we have a great line up in both the 600cc and 1000cc Superstock classes.
Be Wiser Insurance, one of the fastest growing UK companies supported the team last year have and have now stepped up to be title sponsor, so we will now be known as Be Wiser Kawasaki, I just can't thank them enough for their support and commitment. Lincoln University has joined the team as technical partners, through their new school of engineering they will help the team adapt to new technology and help us on a technical level to step up a class in 2014 or 2015. Their marketing school will also be proactive with the team helping to promote the team, our sponsors and their products and services.
We are all really excited about our rider line up this year, in keeping with the principals of the team we have again signed a new upcoming rider in the 600cc class and two established riders in the Stock 1000 class, both competing in their first full season in the class. We are looking forward to the year ahead and working with our sponsors and our three riders in the hope for some good results."
Be Wiser Insurance Marketing Director Andrew Dunkerley, commented that he was delighted for Be Wiser to become title sponsors for the team and he was looking forward to a safe and successful season in 2013.
