Be Wiser Insurance

This year's traditional Good Friday tailback and gridlock is likely to be bigger than ever, according to Be Wiser Insurance.

Mark Bower-Dyke, Chairman of Be Wiser Insurance, comments:

"Many are taking advantage of the two consecutive Bank Holidays and are turning them into a week-long holiday. The Good Friday weekend looks likely to hold the bulk of traffic problems as some head off on holiday, while others travel locally trying to make the most of the Bank Holiday."

The Royal Wedding also looks likely to cause much disruption especially in and around London as tourists flood the city for the weekend - and locals try to escape it!

On top of this, the news that the M1 will be partially closed throughout the April Bank Holidays would suggest that anyone heading to the north side of London is likely to add to the tailbacks on and around the M25.

Mark Bower-Dyke comments:

"The combination of a huge tourist event like the Royal Wedding, the unfortunate issues with the M1 and the usual large traffic on the roads which accompanies any Easter Bank Holiday means we're in for a few days of stressful driving - especially around the capital."

Despite bumper Bank Holiday tailbacks being predicted there are ways to avoid getting too stressed on the country's roads.

Mark Bower-Dyke advises:

"Ultimately dense traffic is unavoidable if you intend on travelling by car on either of the Bank Holiday weekends - the best advice is to be prepared. Planning alternate routes in case your main route becomes clogged is a good idea. Making sure that you have drinks and food in the car can also be a good idea. Breakdown cover is essential - Be Wiser offer free RAC cover with every car insurance policy making it that little bit easier to lower the inevitable stress of Bank Holiday driving."
