HISTORIC NIGHT FOR SOUTHWELL
SOUTHWELL marked its 30th year of racing on Fibresand by staging its first ever floodlit fixture last Thursday, and it was young jockey Jamie Gormley who became the first to win under the 56 LED pylons on Iain Jardine’s Scottish raider Marble Bar.
EXPENSIVE PROSPECTOR MAKES SMART DEBUT
Trainer Clive Cox took his 800,000 guineas purchase GLOBAL PROSPECTOR to Wolverhampton for his belated debut on Saturday and he made every post a winning one to score on debut over six furlongs. There are no immediate plans for the colt, who was bought at Newmarket’s Breeze Up Sales last year.
MEMORABLE WEEK FOR YOUNG JOCKEY DENNIS
Northern based apprentice jockey PHIL DENNIS rode out his claim in style to join the professional ranks last week. He won three races in six days on Charlie McBride’s Camachess to reach the 95 winner mark. Dennis achieved his memorable hat-trick at three different tracks - Newcastle, Wolverhampton and Kempton Park.
